2026 Scherschel Reunion (Indiana)

The North American Scherschel Reunion of 2026 is officially in the books and pictorially preserved for generations to come!

Last weekend Scherschel cousins across America gathered at Dean and Johanna (Scherschel) Crawford’s place to mark the 67th year of our annual tradition. One thing is certain, no family in America does reunions better or more consistently than the Scherschel’s! The weather was superb as was the day. Our sincere thanks and appreciation go out to Dean, Johanna and their family.

If any attendees of the gathering have additional photos or video that they would like to submit to the album archives for preservation, please email them to legacyscherschel@gmail.com or message them to the Scherschel Legacy Facebook page. It turned out to be another completely successful gathering and the weather was beautiful.

Looking ahead to next year’s gathering, if any descendant family would like to host at a specific location on the traditional weekend of Father’s Day (which looks to be June 19, 2027 since Saturday seems to work best in current times), please notify Scherschel Legacy. If a volunteer household or group of descendants doesn’t come forward by January, we’ll select a location and announce at the end of February.

Over the past five years of Scherschel reunions, we’ve gathered quite a comprehensive portrait of the extended North American family of cousins. With each year’s rotation of returning and new attendee households, a very large picture of the Scherschel family at this point in history is coming together. So, kudos and thanks to all the households who keep coming to these gatherings year after year in sequence and rotation to preserve our memory for the generations that will follow us. Amongst this year’s attending households, we had representation from the following ancestral lines of the family: (Joe & Mildred, Paul & Rose, Al & Louella, Ruth & Joe, John & Tressie and Jim & Blanche). The furthest traveling cousins flew in from Denver from the Paul & Rose branch.

Again, we want to thank Dean and Johanna for keeping our tradition going strong, making our ancestors proud and continuing to preserve our family bonds with what turned out to be quite the perfect day. Time passes and as the winds of change go by, some things fall by the wayside while other things remain. There’s an endearing calm in the knowledge that the Scherschel’s are something to last through times past, in present days and for all time to come.
